One more stupid little final separates me from a month-long break from school. Don't get me wrong, I love school and I'm a decent fan of the education I'm getting at Eastern Washington University. But truth be told; school gets old quick. Therefore I am itching for a month in which all I have to do is work (ie. make money!!) and whatever I want!
And speaking of whatever I want...
I want to take PICTURES!
My goal is to take somewhere around 1,000 pictures of the course of the month. A read an article the other day that made me want to minimize the total amount of pictures that I take in a shoot and focus on getting things right the first time so that I can maximize the number of usable shots. I also want to read a bunch of articles and watch how-to videos in order to improve my skills with the minimal tools I have!
I want to WRITE... stuff!
I have a fairly big project ahead of me and now is a better time then ever to get going on it. What that means is a lot of interviews, a lot of rough drafts, and other writing just to keep myself "in shape". As you can see from the picture above.. I've got a long way to go. My goal is somewhere around 50,000 words before I go back to school. Kind of a late NanoWriMo if you will (for those of you who don't know, it's National Writing Month - November - and you have to write 50,000 words in the month). As of now, I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,500 words and if I'm going to be completely honest that's cheating because they were written before I went on break.
I want to master LATTE ART!
One of the awesome aspects of working at Forza Coffee Company here on the South Hill is the fact that I'm expected to learn at least the basics of latte art. From what I hear the learning curve is somewhere between 4-6 months. At that point it's generally expected that you should be able to consistently make hearts and rosettas. I've been working there for a little over three months and am finally starting to see the beginnings of rosettas and hearts in the lattes I make. With a few extra hours over break, I'm hoping that by the time I go back to school I'll be able to show off my semi-mad skills in a blog! Be looking out for that!
I want to MASTER A SKILL!
I have no idea yet what skill I want to learn. I can tell you right now that it will more likely than not be something other than glass blowing, however much I might want to do that. I've thought about trying some beginners yoga or something of the sort. It might not necessarily be a skill in the true sense but it's more the idea of learning something new to keep my mind (and body) fresh while I'm on break from world of academia.

It seems silly to suggest but I recommend making a to do list for the holiday season. It'll keep you busy and your mind sharp for those of you in school and will also keep yourself from doing nothing but eat holiday snacks:)
Feel free to comment your own holiday season to do lists!
Hopefully I'll be blogging again soon. Until then,
Cheers!
