I have a few random photographic favorites that I've taken over the past year or so and since this section doesn't really have any good material yet I figured I'd post a few of them for your viewing pleasure.
Hope you enjoy them!
To make a long and pretty boring short, one day Reina told me to take a picture of something "vintage". I thought about what vintage thing that I could take a picture of and capture the essence of the word.
On my way home, completely defeated after finding nothing vintage that really captured me I realized that one of the reasons my parents live where they do is so that they could get away from the fast-paced metropolitan world and live a lifestyle of days long gone.
I felt that the road out to their house was perfect for what I was looking for and so I laid down on my belly and prayed that I car wouldn't run me over and snapped this quick photo!
When you travel back and forth on I-90 between Yakima and Spokane there is a massive wind farm that is incredibly hard to miss. With seemingly hundreds of these new wind turbines interrupting the horizon it seems that man is even beginning to shape what we see looking out over the mountains and plains.
There is a cluster of turbines in particular that are positioned atop a hill right next to a rest stop. It seemed like every time I passed by them though either I didn't have my camera or the weather conditions weren't conducive for decent photographizing.
Finally though, after months of driving by these turbines which were obviously laughing in my face I was able to align the stars in a way that allowed me to take a couple decent pictures. A lot of people thing that these new relics are ugly and terrible but I have to admit I find a sort of elegance to them...
The next few don't really have or warrant explanations. I feel like sometimes pictures are more beautiful without someone trying to put their personal interpretation on them. Enjoy:)
"Vintage": I really like the way you used depth of field in that photo! The soft focus of the background really does add to the vintage effect.
ReplyDelete"Duck": Jenny asked me if we could get a duck because of that picture several months back.
"Keeper of the Plains": reflection of the colored lights in the water = bravo. Nice shot!
"Random photo of you with a camera": must have been taken by a good photographer.
"Flower in front of Cooper Hall in Sterling, America": black and white photography is awesome. 'Nough said.

I really liked your blog with the pictures and stories. I think you should write a book and use photographs to tell your story. Maybe falling in love would be a neat one to write that you know a lot about. You are very gifted in both areas and it would be a great gift for your parents, girlfriend, future children, not to mention other readers.
ReplyDeleteStick with it, don't quit, you are very good at it!! Love, Becky.
